Microsoft Lumia 640 XL vs. HTC Desire 820 – Best Specs and Features Comparison



The Microsoft Lumia 640 XL and HTC Desire 820 are two phablets that have been released in early 2015 and late 2014, respectively. Both devices come with some pretty decent specifications and features and if you are considering purchasing any of them, we suggest you to read this article.
Designs
The Microsoft Lumia 640 XL measures 157.9×81.5x9mm and weights 171 grams. It has a simple plastic body with a protruding circular camera on the back that is curved on the edges. The HTC Desire 820 is slimmer and lighter, as it measures 157.7×78.7×7.7mm and weights 155 grams. It has a dual-tone design, but its body is also made of plastic and the rear camera is located in the upper left corner.
Displays
The Microsoft Lumia 640 XL has been released with an IPS LCD display of 5.7-inch that supports a resolution of 1280×720 pxiels at 259 ppi and it’s protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The HTC Desire 820 has a smaller LCD display of 5.5-inch that supports a resolution of 1280×720 pixels at 267 ppi and it’s also protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3.
Processors, Graphics Cards & RAM
The Microsoft Lumia 640 XL features a Qualcomm MSM8226 Snapdragon 400 chipset with a quad-core Cortex A7 processor clocked at 1.2GHz, an Adreno 305 graphics card and 1GB of RAM. On the other hand, the HTC Desire 820 comes with a superior Qualcomm MSM8939 Snapdragon 615 chipset that houses a faster octa-core processor formed from a quad-core Cortex A53 processor clocked at 1GHz and a quad-core Cortex A53 processor clocked at 1.5GHz, which are backed by an Adreno 405 GPU and 2GB of RAM.
Storages
The Microsoft Lumia 640 XL has been released with an internal storage of 8GB which can be expanded up to 128GB using a microSD card. The HTC Desire 820 comes with a double memory and the card slot allows expansion up to 128GB, as well.
Cameras
Both devices sport a primary camera of 13MP that’s found on the rear side of the handsets and features LED flash, autofocus, geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection and HDR. However, when it comes to the secondary cameras (that are found on the front side of the handsets), the Microsoft Lumia 640 XL has a 5MP, while the HTC Desire 820 has a more advanced shooter with a resolution of 8MP.
Batteries
The Microsoft Lumia 640 XL has been released with a 3000 mAh battery which can be replaced. However, the HTC Desire 820 has a less powerful battery of only 2600 mAh and it’s non-removable.
