LG Nexus 5X showcases Android Marshmallow at its Purest and Best

The 5X is more expensive compared to the Nexus 5, but it offers good value for money.
The Android Marshmallow version is unpolluted and it offers a good display and performance.
Design
The design is similar to the Nexus 5, as both are created by LG. The design is rather unimaginative, but it has a comfortable soft touch on the rear. The screen is 5.2 inches, so it is rather compact and weighs 136 grams. There is a fingerprint scanner on its back and some design upgrades are seen. The new Type C port improves charging speeds and data transfers. The fingerprint scanner is similar to Apple’s sensor and can be used for unlocking the phone and for making Android Pay purchase. Setting it up is also quick and easy.
Display
The 5X comes with a screen of 5.2 inches and a pixel density of 424 ppi, offering vibrant colors. It is not a Quad HD screen but a Full HD screen.
Software
The 5X makes use of unskinned version of Android, running vanilla version of Marshmallow, 6.0. It is a great improvement on Google’s Lollipop version and is one of the best mobile OS available.
Google Now on Tap
Google Now on Tap is a new feature along with improved privacy features, enabling the users to set the apps that can access the data. Apps have to request access to the data separately. The Now on Tap helps you get information and can be accessed within an app. It offers contextual information that can be accessed using a voice command.
For instance if you are viewing a great looking dish, it is possible to use Google Now to make an internet search for some restaurants nearby that serve the dish and find recipes.
Performance
The 5X gets it power from a Qualcomm, Snapdragon, 808 hexa core clocking at 1.8 GHz, combined with an Adreno, 418 GPU and a RAM of 2 GB. The performance is excellent and navigation between screens and apps can be done without stutter. It is fast for playing 3D games and runs them without hassles.
Camera
The rear camera has a resolution of 12.3 MP with an aperture of f/2.0, along with a front camera of 5 MP with f/2.2 aperture. It is one of the best performing cameras among Nexus phones, though it is not perfect. OIS is absent so pictures in low light conditions are not up to the mark. However, the sensor is large and offers good quality without noise.
Battery
The battery is powered at 2700 mAh, but it is not removable. It can survive a whole day for normal usage, but can last longer for light users, due to the Doze feature of Marshmallow, which improves the standby time. It is able to detect when your phone is inactive and slows down or shuts off some features in order to reduce the consumption of power.
Verdict
The 5X is a small and affordable option from Google, but comes with an increased price when compared to the Nexus 5. However, the increased price seems to be justified, as it is totally unskinned and offers the latest Marshmallow OS, Android 6.0, which is futuristic software.
