WhatsApp for iOS has received a new update and this largely affects the users of the newest members of the iPhone family – iPhone 6S and 6S Plus.
This is true because the new WhatsApp 2.12.11 for iOS comes in with additional 3D Touch features, technology that is currently available only on these set of mobile handsets. Users will now be able to use the Peek and Pop functionality to preview content in the chat app without the need of fully launching the application.
Whenever you receive a WhatsApp message, simply press it tightly via the chat list and a preview of its content will show up. In case you want to open the entire message, you can also press a little deeper so as to make it pop.
There are even more shortcuts available for use via this new functionality, but this time you need to swipe the screen from the bottom towards the top of the screen. With these options, you can mark your WhatsApp messages as read or unread, archive chats, mute them or even delete them. This is undoubtedly a hassle-free way of doing things on your new gizmo.
Other key improvements
In addition to availing more 3D Touch options for users of iPhone 6S, the Facebook-owned application has also included a bunch of other key improvements in the newest version 2.12.11. There is a newly refreshed settings tab on the new version and the users can also make use of starred messages feature.
To star a message, find the message you want to star and then tap and hold on it. Once this is done, just tap on the star icon that shows up and that’s it.
There is also another feature known as link previews. Here, users can now be able to include rich previews in all links that they share in messages. This is true because any link that is sent or received offers a rich preview which the users can decide to share or not.
